Raised beds are great items to add to your landscape for growing specialty plants such as herbs, vegetables, and annuals, but they are also great for for adding a bit of elevation and interest in contrast to the custom ground level garden beds. Raised beds also give the benefit of allowing one to choose the type of soil media to use to grow your plant material as well as to provide a barrier to the weeds that would normally sprout out from the ground. Raised beds can be constructed from custom built cedar, redwood, metal, or stone.
